Description

[2012 VW Golf TDI, DSG (dual clutch) w/ paddle shifting on the wheel, well sorted, improved to be like, but better than, the european GTDs that we can't get here. This Candy White example has been a delight to own and drive, but alas another car has wooed me away ('15 Audi Q5 TDI, also a rare spec). Years ago, I started looking for a Mk6 Golf TDI with these options and it was years before I found it. Most TDI's don't have any of these three options, let alone all three. I searched nationwide and had to buy it sight-unseen, in Portland OR, but it was from a TDI enthusiast who was at the time in the same position I am now: just upgrading to a newer Audi TDI. Exterior: All original white paint is super glossy. There are small chips in the paint (touched up). Interior: Super clean, rip-free upholstery with very little signs of wear. She has three options that are EXTREMELY RARE on this era TDI's, that are only available with the rarely selected highline trim: 1. Cornering Xenon headlights that aim left or right with the steering angle. Super bright 2. Pushbutton keyless start - keep your keys in your pocket, unlocks when you are near her, locks with a touch of your hand. 3. Dynaudio sound system. So much better than the standard TDI stereo option. If you like music at all, the non-Dynaudio systems are very 'tinny' sounding. Heated seats warm quickly. Interior is in excellent shape. Almost zero visible wear on the seat bolsters. Glass sunroof. I never use it, but it's there and works just fine. Stereo automatically pairs with y. Timing belt and water pump done at 140k. It has 18" VW alloys that were 'take-offs' from a '15 VW Alltrack SE and they have Kuhmo performance all-season tires with between 6/32" and 7/32" tread left - all street tires start with 10/32", so they'll need replacement before next winter. I have a fifth one of these wheels that is brand new, hasn't yet had a tire on it. Will throw it in if the deal warrants it, otherwise they sell on eBay for ~$500. Koni 'Special Active' shocks/struts (love them) with H(and)R "Adventure Lift" springs (raises 1.2"front, 1.4" rear) installed two years at 147k miles. At the same time I installed Mk6 GTI front brake calipers, new GTI rotors and semi-metallic, low dust pads up front and new (not upgraded to GTI) pads/rotors in the back. My first career was as a mechanic, when I worked for 12 years (1988-2000), primarily on BMW's and I've done some of the work on her, although in recent years I've enjoyed having local VW specialists do some jobs so that new sets of VW-specific eyes can better suss her out her needs. What she needs: Next fall: tires all around Maybe sooner: rear window tint - the tint on there now has eliptical delamination spots. Up to you: the paint on the hood is original, and while its doesn't have any failing clear coat, it has many tiny (2-3mm) rock chips that I've just put factory Candy White touch up paint on.
