[I’ve been lucky to experience a lot of great things in my life. Some have endured, some have gone. One of them is this Mercedes Benz 300TD that now needs to find a new home with someone who will also appreciate its greatness. The car has been a California car its whole life. It seemed to be sold initially in the Santa Barbara area and spent the following 35 years in the area. There is no major rust with the exception of a few small areas photographed and some paint bubbling at the base of the windshield on the driver’s side. I purchased the car in 2019 and made it my daily driver. Throughout that time there have been ongoing updates, repairs and improvements. Just a few key items are: - updated rebuilt injectors - new windshield - front upper and lower ball joints, tie rods and steering linkage updates - full conversion to an R134 air conditioning system including new condenser and compressor - replaced all 3 climate control modules with refurbished units - intake/exhaust manifold gasket replacement including turbo rebuild - new exhaust system - new set of tires, with approximately 2,000 miles - new pads on all 4 wheels and a new set of front brake calipers Things that should be disclosed are a minor accident that damaged the fender and some surrounding areas. I have photos of the accident and complete records of the repairs, all of which were performed by a reputable body shop and paid for by insurance. There have been no other instances of body damage and the hood, fenders and bumper all line up perfectly. The only system that is totally non-functional is the cruise control. I had plans to replace the control module but never got around to it. I removed the linkage and actuator but I have it and will include it with the car. Central locking works but sometimes the rear hatch will decide it won’t lock or unlock. All windows, sunroof and even the antenna open and close properly, I also replaced the turn signal relay so that works really well and makes the clicky noise like it's supposed to. Mechanically, the car runs beautifully. The engine and transmission are both original and pull the car along with traffic comfortably. I regularly cruise at 80 mph without any difficulty. The engine is responsive, this is a great driver’s car. I went out of my way to buy a car that never had one of those idiotic cooking oil conversions done to it. As a result, the entire fuel system including the injection pump are in perfect working order. With this car you’ll get: A custom car cover, rubber mats, tools for valve adjustment, an extra set of oil cooler lines and hoses, diesel purge, a new valve cover gasket, an original cargo net and many more miscellaneous parts. Oh, and why am I selling it? I'm letting go of it because I no longer have the time and dedication to service it. It's a great car, and served really well as a daily driver but it needed more attention that I can provide it. Plus, I bought a pickup truck and I really can't afford to maintain 2 cars - financially and timewise. If I had more garage space, free time, money and maybe a lift to work on it, I'd definitely keep it.
