[Selling my mom’s 1990 VW Caravelle with permanent hard top for $19,000. Odometer reads 190,000 miles. In 2022 the odometer began functioning intermittently and we estimate there may be an additional 2,000 miles driven. Engine was rebuilt at 150,000 miles in 2004 when my mom purchased it used. We estimate that 40,000 miles are on the rebuilt engine. All service records including the rebuild have been kept. Regularly serviced at BusLab in Berkeley. In 2018, the side body panel was damaged on the passenger side and repaired. Recently tuned up and there is about $3,000 more work recommended though not immediately necessary. We drove it to Las Vegas in last June. It’s fun to drive and very easy for camping trips. The interior is roughly 6 feet tall in the center because of the hard top, so people shorter than that can stand fully upright. Exterior height from ground to rooftop is approximately 8 feet. Interior includes: Refrigerator Range top powered by propane Teak floor Back seat folds down to become bed Small table Interior lights Heater Sink with faucet (we’ve never used it but assume it works) Interior powered by separate battery, not engine battery Multiple storage cabinets A/C does not work. Exterior: Rainy weather causes the roof to leak. Doesn’t leak when it is covered by a tarp and the inside stays dry. There have been three attempts to fix the leak but all failed.
