Description

[The 1976 Triumph TR6-C3 - The "Custom Classic Coupe” I've owned and meticulously maintained 1982: it had 2,000 miles. I drove it to work for a couple years and then from Seattle to San Francisco, than garaged it and took in on occasional tours around the Bay Area and a few long trips to Palm Springs and Carmel and Santa Cruz. I completely restored and re-fashioned the interior of "The "Queen Bee" in 2012-2013. I installed top-of-the-line custom designed and stitched Scottish leather (a combination of Maroon and Black) on the dash board, doors, and trunk (with fiberglass backing replacing the factory cardboard on inside of doors and jump seat) and designed custom door arched armrests and door panels, and a custom center counsel with small sliding panel (to access the hand break), as well as a custom cushioned leather back jump seat designer leather covering. The driver and passenger seats were also custom designed and cushioned and covered with the Scottish leather design. The trunk was also finished with custom Maroon and Black leather panels throughout and includes a clear heavy-duty plastic window revealing the stereo woofers in the trunk wheel well with sound that filters back into coupe. I removed the cracking factory Teak veneer dash board and installed a custom built solid Teak replacement dashboard. I added a JVC surround-sound stereo-radio system with two 8" woofers (in trunk with sound holes to the interior of vehicle), two 6" midrange, two 2” tweeters installed under the driver and passenger foot wells. As mentioned, the woofers are incased in a custom-built sound box in the trunk (with a second sound volume knob on the rear panel of the trunk). I removed the large black rubber bumper-car bumper (called “Dagmar Bumpers”) no longer required for safety regulations in the U.S. and re-chromed the bumpers along with other chrome pieces around headlights for a more classic Triumph look. I also removed the top frame convertible retracting assembly and top cover (which was wearing) because I only drive the Bee in nice weather. I left the frame assembly attachment bolt holes on the rear frame collar and placed small round-top chrome custom bolts heads in them. I also kept the anchor bolt-handle securing pin holes on top of the windshield for re-installment of a top frame convertible assembly with top cover. The original top frame assembly comes with the vehicle and is operational, but needs a thorough cleaning, sanding, painting and a new top cover if one wants to add it back on the car. I refurbished and replaced many engine parts and panels and painted inside the engine well to match the outside car color. The engine/transmission/clutch parts and fluids were inspected, drained, and replaced (as needed) and the engine had a major tune-up last year (plugs, points, connectors, etc.). I also replaced the factory bouncy cantilever rear suspension system with Monroe monotube shock absorbers and custom-built steel panel and multi-bolted and welded the custom shock system arrays on both sides to the wheel well and chassis, providing a much smoother, cushioned ride and less sway around turns (photos of this renovation are available). Also, cleaned, sanded, and re-sealed the undercarriage, and I recently completed a major detailing to the interior and replaced the flooring fabric throughout and put in new Triumph floor mats as well. The integrated three-color metallic repaint in the 2012-2013 restoration becomes a gold-ish hue in direct sunlight, a soft mustard yellow in overcast skies, and imbues a slight light green hue at dusk. The vehicle is in excellent condition in almost every respect with but a few nicks overtime that have been touched-up. Of course, with regular use, yearly inspections and tune-ups are required as the car and its parts mature. The "Queen Bee" is truly a one-of-a-kind Triumph and one of the most beautifully re-designed, appointed, and specially customized TR6's on Planet Triumph!
