1979 Mercedes-Benz 300SD

[1979 Mercedes-Benz 300SD sedan, Anthracite exterior with Bamboo interior, (rare combination). I have owned this car twice going back approximately 15 years. Lots of recent maintenance done including brakes, A/C, rear axles and more. Everything works including climate control, (cold A/C), door locks and cruise control. It's a great running car that can be used everyday but I want to be as candid as possible in describing it, it's an old car. First the bad: Paint is failing, clear coat damage from sun. Dashboard is cracked, also from the sun. Interior in general is otherwise pretty nice, seats are good. The car runs very well but burns oil, you need to add it occasionally between oil changes. The top end has never been done, valve guides and seals are original. The good: Beautiful old car, even in present condition. Lots of compliments when I drive it. The color combination is extremely rare and unmatched, IMO. Everything works, which is rare for older MB diesels for sale here and elsewhere. Tires are good and brakes are just serviced, I would not hesitate to drive it on a long road trip. The Mercedes w116 series, which this car is, was built like no other model ever. It's a tank but very maneuverable in city driving. It has the OM617 5-cylinder turbo diesel engine. It starts, stops and drives extremely well. It gets decent mileage on diesel and never needs a smog check, which can be a huge hassle on older gasoline powered cars in CA. It is currently registered and has a clean title. If you're looking for a cool, cheap car, this could be good. Price is $6500 cash, these w116 300SDs are going for crazy $$ in mint condition.
