Description

[1st generation Taco. 1998 Toyota Tacoma SR5 -4 x 4 -manual trans -3.4 L V6 engine -only two owners -270k miles eiboch adjustable coil overs with 2.5" lift in front, all-pro explorer lead pack in the rear for 3" with additional 600lb load capability. lift is 10years old but all good with new shocks and bushings on all four corners. in the last two years she's had all new front end components including ball joints, tie rods, steering rack, new universal joints, new alternator, new starter, all new belts and hoses. this was done two years and 20k ago at 250k miles. also put 4 BFG KO2 285/75/16 or 33" and they are still in great shape with 75% tread left. a good full sized BFG spare rides under the bed. mechanically the truck is in great shape. the interior is clean and pretty good/fair condition, the seats have been replaced 2 times since new and the current seats have new covers but need seatbelts ($200 ebay) and there are a couple missing plastic trim pieces on the drivers side. the truck has cut out front wheel wells and Bushwacker fender flares which look great and cover the bigger wheelset. she has a tow package, a matching Leer camper shell, and a custom locking lumber rack which is pretty awesome for securing tools and equipment. the back gate of the rack flips up and lays flat inside the upper section when not using. the design is really good and very very useful. I am the second owner, I bought it at 130k miles with a salvaged title from a right front-end accident. the frame is straight and it's never caused me any issues. she passes smog no problem and i will smog it for the next owner. this has been the toughest, most reliable truck i've ever owned. i've owned 6 other toyota trucks over the years, and the Tortuga Rojo is hands down the best one. i always use full synthetic oil and changed it religiously. the truck has driven the length of baja several times, been to mainland mexico 2x, nm co utah 4x, the PNW and idaho countless times, death valley like 12x and has never let me down. she's got nicks and scratches and some small dents and little bits broken or banged up over the years, and she could use some attention for a short list of minor things, but is a mechanically sound and bombproof truck with all the right accessories. she has been on non-op since october when i bought a dodge cummins. i'm sad to let her go but i can't afford 2 trucks and i'm using the dodge now. she has many adventures and miles to go. she needs: -seatbelts -new door locks -windshield washer pump -front bumper is wonky i always intended to make a custom winch bumper but i never got around to it. -a couple missing plastic bits inside -a couple new door seals, and there is a slow oil leak somewhere. i just keep her topped off and don't worry about it. nothing major to do. This is the perfect truck for work and for play. i'm a contractor and i kept all my tools locked up inside when i was working around the bay, and used it for long camping roadtrips all over the west into remote places. this truck does it all and she's ready for more action. no low ballers, no offers over text, no inquiries asking if this is still available. bring cash and drive away with a great truck.
