Description

[Very clean, great condition first gen Tacoma. 4 cylinder 2.7 engine, the most bullet-proof Toyota every built, with automatic overdrive transmission and 2WD-4L-4H transfer case. I searched for many years to find one of these in prime condition like this, and went all the way to Kentucky to drive it back. This configuration was rare, and most of the survivors you find are totally beat up and/or have rusted out frames. This one returned to the dealer in 2011 under a nationwide recall, was inspected and given a clean bill of health. At that time, the dealer also applied a Ziebart undercoating giving it an additional layer of protection. Despite its current 222,550 miles, this truck runs like new. Just before I picked it up, it received a synthetic oil change, tune up, new windshield wipers and new front brake pads and rotors. It also got a new Safelite windshield as the existing one was cracked. It made the nearly 3,000 mile trip back without a hiccup, averaging 20 mpg on regular gas and not using a drop of oil, despite sub-freezing weather much of the way. The truck has 5 almost new semi-knobby tires that are good off road and still cruise at 70 mph without too much road noise. It also has a Toyota bed liner, and when I got home, I installed a Kenwood AM/FM CD player with bluetooth, Garmin navigation and a Sirius tuner, though the license has apparently lapsed. The only thing on the truck that doesn't work is the emergency brake, which is common on these older trucks. A $55 bell crank kit and some elbow grease can replace the parts that are frozen. I never bothered as the park position on the auto trans holds the truck fine, even on a hill. There is no drag, and the parking brake is permenantly "off." I planned on keeping this truck forever, as it's the perfect vehicle for hauling 1500 pounds of grapes up my very steep and twisty driveway, and then turning it around in the limited space at the top. Sadly, a major shoulder injury and advancing age have made me realize my winemaking career is over, and I can't justify keeping this as a third vehicle despite its usefullness. On returning to California, I had two catalytic converters installed as the one on the truck was not CARB compliant. That done, the truck passed Smog with no problem and is fully licensed and registered in California. I'm asking a fair price, considering the superb condition and rarity of the truck, so please don't expect to offer me a lower price, trades or any other dealings.
