2008 BMW 328i Mechanic Special

[This is a weird one, ideal for the talented BMW mechanic. There is right front fender damage, not that complicated to remedy the primary issue is somewhere in the computer. The battery is down though she will start fine and runs no with apparent problem. However with hard acceleration up around 3500 RPM range the computer initiates a safe mode, minimizing throttle response. Turn the car off and restart and all is well. The root cause is likely in the electrical/sensor side or in the fuel/engine management path rather than a simple mechanical failure. Coils were replaced, CAT replaced, and a handful of other attempts to locate the problem to no avail. I planned to keep to take another swing at the problem but must move soon and I will not have a shop to locate the problem. My loss is…your gain. Once the problem is found she again will be a great car. DMV Non-Op
