Description

[Hello Up for sale is a non running, 1986 RX7 Base 2+2, 4 lug, non power steering .. It is a 5-speed One of the rotor housing I assume is leaking water because it is pushing the coolant to the over fill tank Car was refurbed and passed smog before the coolant seal failed in 2024 Car is currently non op status. 12 years ago I had the engine rebuilt at ricks rotary at 260k miles and I drove it for another 35 k miles and then it sat for a couple years before it needed more work and I had no money at the time. I decided to refurb it for the road again in 2021-2022 and was successful in getting it to smog. It currently has a no-op status at the DMV and I have the Title which is salvage. It was damaged at 58k miles and rebuilt. There is a whole story behind that on how it happened in 1989 I spent around $4K in parts in 2021-22 to get it running again and drove it for around 6k miles after I got it to pass smog. I refurbed a lot of items on this car to make that happen. The car has three issues. The coolant seal failure on one of the rotor housings. . . The dash is hammered from the sun. (there is a dash mat covering it) The heater core is leaking a little because I can smell antifreeze in the cabin. . .Currently there is little to no anti freeze in the car. It will need the dash replaced, and although it looks good in the pictures, it is not when you really look at it.. . .It's functional, but it's hammered You can leave the dash as it is and bypass the heater core in the engine bay and it will run just fine. Assuming the engine is fixed. It is a project too large for me at this moment. Otherwise all the parts are there to get it smog gable once the motor is fixed It has a salvage title The car had it's tranny rebuilt at 167k . . .Clutch is still good. . .Doesn't leak oil MAF replaced prior to smog in 2021. . . .BACV replaced. . . .So much has been replaced. Sunroof needs work to run properly but I bondo'd and painted it so there is no rust showing as this is a common problem. Wheels are 16x7 +38 with proper counterbore. .Liquid Metal Static Running 215/50 r16" The tires are 4 years old and 90% tread .. It's really hard to fun nice wheels for 4x114 bolt pattern with a Counter Bore of 60.1mm. They simply don't make them anymore and although you can find 4x114 wheels, you need an adapter ring to make them fit. If you google image "liquid metal static rx7" you will see the car/wheel. Rear shocks have been recently replaced. Car sits on Suspension Techniques springs and lowered 1". . .It has KYB adjustables all the way around. Battery is dead. . . .If I had a battery it would crank over and maybe run on 1 rotor. It is not drivable any distance. . . .It may drive onto a flatbed if I had a battery and tried to start it. I have not tried to start it in about 1 year or so. Rear quarter was hit early in its life and bondo'd back into shape. The frame is straight. I've owned this car since 1990 and never once did it wear a tire wrong. The only thing not stock in the engine bay is the Aluminum radiator and the cat back exhaust. All smog is on the car. . . .I have the 3 cat factory setup you'll need if you smog it. I documented the refurb process I did in 2021 and it can be viewed here. https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-gen-general-discussion-323/86-n-s4-story-redemption-1154012/ It has it's original color of champagne gold with red interior. It has been premiered black in select places on the rear quarter but its straight. . . . .Rear bumper has been repainted I have lots of extra parts that are hard to get.. Like the Cork sport intake, 3 cat setup, replacement TPS and IAT sensor. . As well as many other parts such as oil injectors, gaskets, distributor. . etc .. .etc.. Before the coolant seal failure, the car started and idled perfectly. It has Borla cat back exhaust and a bonez single cat setup currently Notice the factory sunroof deflector, and the factory mud flaps front and back, as well as the factory rear flat wing.. . All rare items It's time to go. . It's a sweet ride when it runs. I want $2,500 for it as it sits. It's really hard to find a RX7 that has not been completely stripped of all it's smog equipment by some boy racer that doesn't know what they are doing . This one has everything you need to get it smogged. I went out my way over the years to make sure the engine bay wasn't messed with. I'll try to charge the battery to show that it turns over and maybe starts. I'll answer questions over email, but don't show up unless you intend to buy. You will need a flat bed or trailer to take it away. Thanks for looking
