1983 BMW R80RT with Luggage

[This stunning BMW twin was procured from its long-time owner in Santa Clara by Scottie's Workshop, the SF Bay Area's Vintage and Classic BMW specialist, because the owner stopped riding. The bike has a salvage title. The owner told me the bike fell over in a parking lot requiring dealer replacement of the side fairing panel, which unfortunately totaled the bike. The owner decided to keep it, and lovingly cared it for another few decades, taking it to San Jose BMW for its annual service. Shortly before the sale, the top end was overhauled by Greg Hutchinson with new rings, cylinder head service and all new seals and gaskets, and pushrod rubbers. It also received new Metzeler tires. When Scottie's received the bike, we serviced the steering head bearings, rebuilt the forks with new seals, replaced the foggy windscreen with a new Clear shield screen (nice!) and bled the front brakes. This bike has a good battery, comes with its Krauser hard luggage and runs like a Swiss watch. While certainly not the fastest bike on the road, is delightful to ride--smooth and responsive, and--to quote a recent YouTube review of the R80RT (no affiliation to Scottie's), "The bike feels like it is riding ME around, not the other way around." Scottie's finds BMWs that are languishing and we aim to get them back on the road. It's a win-win for all three parties because the bikes don't end up rusting in a shed, and the work keeps my mechanics busy. The bike is in Saratoga. Available to view on weekends only.
